Gym Equipment Service

Why Set Up a Fitness Equipment Service Contract?

Regular service and maintenance of your fitness equipment is extremely important. The purpose of a service contract is to keep your gym equipment working and safe. Inspections, lubrication, calibration and regular maintenance will limit the need for repairs and save your gym money.

Many gym owners wrongly believe that a service contract is unnecessary while the machine is under a manufacturer's warranty. Compare the need for preventative maintenance on gym equipment to maintenance on your car. Even when the vehicle is under warranty, you still need to change the oil and filters, keep the tyres inflated and replaced when the treads wear down. It is the same with gym equipment, there will be a recommended maintenance schedule which should be adhered to from the day your equipment arrives.

Key Reasons for Keeping Your Equipment Maintained

  • You will optimise the availability of your equipment
  • You will prolong the life of your equipment
  • You will minimise your overall maintenance costs
  • You are responsible for the safety of the customers in your gym. British Standard 1892 Part 1: 1986 states that ‘it is important that all physical education apparatus is maintained in a first class, fully safe condition’
  • Regular servicing of your equipment provides peace of mind to you, your customers and your staff

Service Contract Report

During each contracted maintenance visit, all of the equipment that is covered by the service contract will be inspected for safety, cleaned thoroughly both inside and out, lubricated and adjusted according to the procedures laid out by the manufacturer. We will also supply you with a Service Report that will break down any faults found into 3 categories (Red - required, Amber - advisory and Green - cosmetic) and will give your gym the opportunity to prepare for the repairs that will be required by minimising the down-time in your club.

The equipment covered by your contract will be reported on after the service. The report will draw attention to faults using the following codes:

RED (Required) – High Importance

  • Frayed Cables
  • Holes in Running Belts
  • Badly Worn Bearings
  • Repairs with Health & Safety Implications

AMBER (Advisory) – Medium Importance

  • Wear on Deck/Belt
  • Cables with Cracking in Outer Case
  • Rumblings from Bearings

Parts marked in the Amber (Advisory) category will generally need replacing before your next service.

GREEN (Cosmetic) – Low Importance

  • Decals Worn/Missing
  • Broken Shrouds (depending what is exposed).

Additional units can be added from time to time at a price agreed between customer and Amazon Leisure.

At each visit the Service Engineer will carry out a full inspection of the equipment and report on the condition of each piece of equipment, serial numbers and rectification programme. The cost of parts and labour will be specified so that the customer can specify the remedial work to be carried out. The parts will be ordered and the work executed when payment has been received.

During the first visit the Service Engineer will carry out daily and weekly maintenance training for named staff. Additional training can be provided at an additional cost.

The charge for each service contract visit will be invoiced in advance unless payment terms have been agreed.

Where new parts are required / requested these may be subject to delivery lead times from Original Equipment Manufacturer, and as such any delays incurred due to waiting for purchased items will not be the fault or responsibility of Amazon Leisure.
